The Phoenix Suns fanbase is culturally rich and diverse as is the roster. The organization has always done well in celebrating the culture of the surrounding areas. From “Los Suns” to “The Valley”, the Suns are experts at finding unique ways to revere the city they call home.
All-Star guard Devin Booker is not only a stellar basketball player, he is a beacon of the Phoenix community. Both the player and the fanbase proudly honor their Hispanic heritage. The Suns are looking to do the same as they revealed new concept uniforms on Wednesday.
The team released the concept design which displayed a black-and-purple jersey alternate Aztec uniform that they have been working on commemorating the “early ancestors of the Valley”.

A tribute to early ancestors of The Valley, our Mexican and Mexican-American fans, and the warrior spirit we bring to battle everyday.

On the chest is an Aztec sun stone that represents “a gathering of deities working as one” sitting behind the PHX logo — the same PHX font you may remember from the 2018 Statement Edition jerseys — and the jersey number of each player. Rays from the sun stone “represent emanating heat and unity, all originating from a single source, the Sun,” according to the release.
An Aztec death stone is featured on the back of the jerseys that “pays homage to fearless warriors even in the face of death.” One side of the shorts includes outlines of jaguar armor while the Suns fireball logo appears on the other.
After showing the potential uniform which is based on ancient Aztec symbolism, the team is asking for fans’ opinions and thoughts to be left on their Twitter account, @Suns.
The Suns already have a popular “The Valley” City Edition jersey but this concept takes additional pride in Arizona and goes to a new level.
Members of the Suns Twitter community have already begun creating their thoughts on a court concepts as well.

I, for one, really like this concept and think it will be exciting to see it on the court.
