Six in a row.

The Phoenix Suns were tasked with playing the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday afternoon in their final In-Season Tournament group play game and would have to do so without the services of Kevin Durant.

But Phoenix still does have Devin Armani Booker.

Devin Booker was stellar against an under-manned Grizzlies team, scoring an efficient 40 points on 15-of-21 shooting to help the Suns not only get their sixth consecutive win but increase their chances of advancing to the In-Season Tournament knockout round on December 7 in Las Vegas. Phoenix ends group play with a 3-1 record, possessing a +34 point differential, which determines the wild card (seeing as the Lakers shored up Group A with a 4-0 record).

Eric Gordon and Grayson Allen were solid contributors as well, combining for 34 points, and Jordan Goodiwn’s 14 off of the bench helped solidify the win over Memphis.

The Suns are now 10-6 while the Grizzlies fall to 3-12, including 0-7 at home.

Game Flow

First Half

When the injury report came out, there was a surprising name atop the list. Kevin Durant, who has been eviscerating opposing defenses this season, was out with left foot soreness. “He got evaluated last night, and it was determined that he’s going to sit this one out,” Frnak Vogel said prior to the game. “Things pop up. Hopefully game-to-game or day-to-day.”

Keita Bates-Diop got the nod to replace Durant in the starting lineup.

It’s Black Friday, so I’m giving you a discount on words to read. Instead of 1,000 words about how the Suns defeated the Grizzlies today, I’ll piece together what went down with a series of tweets!

Second Half

Let me know when the comments below if you liked the tweet-only approach to the game flow. I thought I’d give it a try, after all that turkey booze yesterday, my fingers weren’t working as well as they normally do.
